Alumni Spotlight: Eileen Levinson

Haggadot.com

Dear Friends, As many of you know, I’ve spent much of the past few years (and particularly the past few weeks) working to build Haggadot.com – a website for Jews of any background to exchange original, diverse content for the Passover Haggadah. I built this site because Judaism, for me, can be a deeply meaningful, yet complicated experience. The themes of Passover in particular, challenge us to consider our sense of identity, as well as broader notions of inequality, freedom, and redemption – with as much relevancy today as in ancient times. My goal has been to provide a platform for the various, often under-appreciated, voices on these topics to be more publicly shared & heard. Whether your are hosting your own seder, or just barely buying a package of matzah this year, I ask that you help support the project & the diverse conversations it fosters by doing one or more of the following: 1) Login If nothing else, creating a user account on the site demonstrates your support. We are hoping to sign up at least 2000 new users this year. Please be one of them. It takes less than a minute. 2) Download a reading Although site allows you to create an entirely new free haggadah, you can also simply choose a single reading to download & print. Please choose just one reading that you feel can supplement your Passover experience. If it has an impact on your seder conversations, I’d love to know. To help you choose, I’ve added a list of some of my favorite contributions at the end of this e-mail. 3) Make a donation Our goal is to keep the website entirely free for participants. However, there are still very significant costs of maintenance and technical developments required. Please consider making a donation so that we can continue improving the project as a free resource. You can donate using the following link: http://www.razoo.com/story/Haggadot 4) Spread the word. This next week, please tell everyone who may be interested to visit the site. Take a moment to forward this e-mail to your personal contacts. You might also consider posting it on facebook, or twitter. Thanks to all of you for the support you’ve shared in so many important ways. I’m happy to answer any further questions you have about the site or to suggest more content based on your particular needs.
