Meet Our Neighbors: Avraham Loewenthal

Jewish Mysticism, prayers and poems, and contemporary art combine in the unique work of Tzfat artist Avraham Loewenthal. Born in the United States, Avraham studied psychology at the University of Michigan, and later studied painting at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago.  He made aliyah in 1994 and lives with his wife and children in the Old City of Tzfat.  Here he studies the spiritual learning of the Kabbalah, creating meditative and inspirational artwork which expresses universal spiritual concepts of Judaism. The Tzfat Gallery of Mystical Art is Avraham’s gallery and work studio and is located in the center of the Artists’ Quarter of Tzfat, a short walk from the Livnot U’Lehibanot campus. Visitors to Tzfat can meet Avraham in his gallery, where he discusses his paintings and the concepts of the Kabbalah which inspire his work.  Avraham’s paintings are enjoyed throughout the world.
